Microsoft Announces Free Access To Professional Services Tools Library

The Professional Services Tools Library (PSTL) is one of those gems of Microsoft Dynamics® GP.  If you are aware of it you know that it is invaluable when it comes to modifying and updating your system data.  If you are not familiar with this library they are a collection of tools that allow you to easily modify various types of information such as:

  • Account records
  • Customer records
  • Vendor information
  • Employee information
  • Inventory records

In the past if you wanted to use these tools they needed to be purchased individually at a cost of $750 to $1500 per module and with more than 40 modules the cost could really add up!  For more information on the many tasks that you can easily accomplish using these tools or if you are interested in taking advantage of these now free and available tools, please contact us.

Did Anyone Tell You What You Have Access To?

Now that I have your attention, you may or may not be familiar with CustomerSource, which is one of the many benefits of being enrolled in an enhancement plan. If you have ever wondered how to do something in Microsoft Dynamics GP you should take a look at the training resources available to you at no additional cost. Give yourself the advantage when it comes to being an expert on using the software to its fullest potential. You can find information on getting Microsoft Certifications, prescribed learning paths for various products, or different role-based plans. If you haven’t explored the site available to you we suggest you check it out today. If you don’t currently have an enhancement plan or are not sure if you do, please contact us and we will help get you started.

Having An Operational Review Of Your ERP System Is Like Going To The Dentist...Nobody Wants To Do It, But Everyone Can Benefit From It

I have a deep seeded childhood fear of going to the Dentist. This was most likely caused by having a tooth pulled without any Novocain as a kid. It was incredibly painful and leaves me feeling like a 7 year old every time I get in the dentist chair. I could easily just put off going to the dentist and blame my busy schedule. However, I find time to go twice a year because I know how important my teeth are to my overall health. I’ve learned that if I do put it off too long, it just means the dentist finds more things that need to be fixed and the time it takes increases and the cost sky rockets.

Having a periodic Operational Review of your ERP/Financial Management system is the same type of necessary evil. You can put it off as long as you want, but it will only cost you more in the long run.

No CFO or Controller thinks they have the time or want to spend the money to let someone come in and review how they are using their ERP system. It will take time out of their users’ busy schedules to go over their daily, weekly, and monthly activities with the consultant. Most accounting users are so busy they are working weekends as it is just to keep up. However, making the investment of a little time and money can have huge long term payoffs for both the users and the company.

Microsoft Dynamics GP Quick Tip: Turning Off Posting Reports

When posting is processed in a module, several reports may be triggered to print at that time. Instead of clicking on “Cancel” for every report that you are prompted for, you can adjust the report settings for each type of posting to only print the reports you want – if any. Reports can be reprinted through a module’s Reports menu at a later time if needed.

Administration Pane > Setup > Posting > Posting
Select the Series and Origin for the posting that you would like to refine report printing for. At the bottom of the window, you will see a listing of reports that are available to print when posting from that specific origin. They are defaulted to all print. If you would like to eliminate any report from printing, simply uncheck the box to the left of the report name.
