Take the Shortcut in Microsoft Excel

Save time and get more accomplished during the work day by simply utilizing the shortcuts available in your software solutions. Using fewer mouse-clicks and keystrokes can help you complete projects faster and give you the extra time you need for other important tasks.

Microsoft® Excel is one of many programs that offer more than one way to complete a task. You can use the mouse and click on menu buttons or you can use the Control (Ctrl) button with various keyboard letters. Most users know that holding the Control button and hitting the letter Z will Undo the last action. An often underutilized shortcut is Control-Y, which will Redo the previous action and also provides Repeat Previous functionality. For example, you can format cells in one part of your Excel table, then highlight additional cells in another spot, and Control-Y will format those cells with the same features as in the previous cells. Control-G will help you find specific cells faster. Hit Control-G and choose a specific cell within your table or search for a cell with special attributes. No more scrolling up and down or left and right to find the next blank cell or a cell with a comment or object.

Fun Fact:

In 1888, Asa Candler, partner of the Coca-Cola Company, gave employees and sales representatives paper tickets to distribute for free glasses of Coca-Cola to get people to try the new drink. These paper tickets are thought to be the first coupon used by a company.
