Microsoft Dynamics GP Year End Update

The target release date of year end updates for Microsoft Dynamics® GP is November 15, 2013.  Below is a list of changes that will be included in this year’s Year End Update.  If your company is impacted by any of these changes, you will need to install the update.  As in the past, this update is ALL inclusive and will include Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 SP 4 and 2013 SP 2 respectively.  If your version of Microsoft Dynamics GP does not currently include the service packs included in the update, please be sure to verify first that any customizations and/or third-party software you are using are compatible with the newest release of Microsoft Dynamics GP.
This is the first year end where Microsoft Dynamics GP version 10 customers will NOT receive a Year End Update. If you are on Microsoft Dynamics GP version 10 and need the updates listed below, you will need to schedule an upgrade – please contact your Customer Account Manager at The Resource Group for an estimate.

Changes included in the update:
  • Fixed Asset changes to Luxury Auto Depreciation
  • Payables Form Changes
  • Payroll EFW2 Electronic filing changes (magnetic media).
  • Payroll compliance quality issues target to fix:
NO Payroll W2 nor W3 form changes at this time.

Once the update is made available on CustomerSource on or around 11/15/2013, there is no need to wait to install it (unless you have a third-party/customization compatibility issue).

Please do not save this until year end processing – an already busy time for your company.  If you require assistance from The Resource Group, please contact Ryan Franklin, to schedule an appointment.
Use Attachments in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 SP2

You can save time, improve productivity and be more green by using Microsoft Dynamics® GP 2013 to its fullest. One of the best time-saving features is sending documents via email rather than printing and mailing documents through inter-office mail or postal services. In the “
Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 SP2 Document Attach New Features,” video posted on the Microsoft Dynamics Community YouTube channel, you can view step by step instructions on attaching documents and how to set up your solution to control deletion of the attached documents.

So save time and go green by emailing documents instead of sending paper reports. To get started in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 SP2, you need to make sure that all setup properties are marked properly, such as the box noting that attached documents can be emailed.  In this video, you will also learn how to direct the flow of records from master records to transaction records and how to delete attached documents
